Olmsted County goes green with two new geothermal systems in the Graham Ice Arena complex. These energy efficient ice arenas use the energy of the earth to save money and the environment. The heat that is produced during the ice making process can be used in limitless ways in your facility. In addition to heating the common areas of the building this waste heat can be used for heated spectator seating, in-floor heating, snow melt for sidewalks, snow melt pits, Domestic Water heating and many other applications.

Graham I (West) is the first North American conversion of a conventional ice arena to geothermal utilizing our innovative rink header piping design. Overall energy savings equal 50% to 60% over the old system.

Waste heat from the ice making process provides:

  • Energy for heating the building
  • Heating of domestic water

Graham IV is a new geothermal arena that includes many energy saving options

  • Heated spectator seats
  • In-Floor Heat in the Rink Perimeter and Mezzanine
